M2 Mars Globe US$99.95

12 inch diameter globe.

More detail than Hubble can provide!
Official names for 140 features

Mars is much in the news these days and this highly detailed 12 inch diameter globe is an unusual desktop globe which was created from more than 6000 images taken by spacecraft! It has been color enhanced to show true colors for both lighter and darker parts of the Mars surface. Globe rests on a clear acrylic base and is supplied with 16 page Mars Globes color brochure packed with detailed information on the red planet.

Specialists at the U.S. Geological Survey in Flagstaff, Arizona combined highly detailed monochromatic images (typical resolution: 150 to 250 meters) with a lower-resolution global mosaic that approximates the planet's true color and emphasizes the albedo (brightness) variations in its surface. The Sun was typically 20 to 45 above the local horizon for each photograph. This globe shows relatively true colors in the brighter, redder regions of Mars; contrast has been enhanced in the darkest regions to make them appear darker and less red than they really are. Rests on acrylic base and supplied with 16 page Mars Globes color brochure packed with detailed information on the red planet.
